The 8th of March is the international women’s day. With that we would like to introduce to you some of the #womenofOSM throughout March to focus on the importance of women empowerment and gender equality in the industry.
Julia Anastasiou has 23 years of experience in the shipping industry. As a former customer of OSM maritime group between 2001 to 2006, Julia rushed to apply for a position that opened up in Cyprus in 2009.
In OSM the work ethic is based on fairness, there is no difference in the conditions between gender in OSM
Julia said as a reason for why she wanted to work in OSM Maritime Group. Now working as a Crew Director in Cyprus. With her experience and knowledge of the maritime industry, Julia has been able to build up a solid and competent team.
Her way to success has not come without issues. What do you know? You are not a seafarer, people have stated. ‘Do not judge a book by its cover’ she replied. Julia’s outmost biggest achievement is being in a male dominated industry and achieve the success and position she has today. Julia has proved that she is worthy of her position due to her hard work, competence and experience regardless of gender.
