OSM has released its very first sustainability report on the United Nations Global Compact website!
The OSM Sustainability report was published on February 13th, 2018, exactly one year after OSM joined the world’s largest global corporate sustainability initiative.
As signatory participants with the UN Global Compact, the Communication on Progress – OSM Sustainability Report describes all practices, initiatives, policies and processes in place used to comply with the ten principles of the UN Global Compact (UNGC) in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
The initiative of signing up with the UN Global Compact originated from OSM Crew Management, and the basis for the 2017 Sustainability Report is heavily based on data extracted from this organizational area of OSM Maritime Group. In 2018, this will be expanded to the cover the whole group:
“OSM’s values and vision are fundamentally aligned with the ten principles of the UN global compact and with the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2018 we plan to further incorporate the program into our global operations, in line with our group wide focus on sustainability and growth,” says Project Manager and HSEQ Coordinator, Andrea Castagna M. Lima.
“These efforts enable us to better align the OSM business model and strategy with sustainability principles benefiting the entire organization as well as the communities in which we operate,” Andrea continues.
According to HSEQ Global Manager Dimitris Pavlou, the membership with UNGC is a good opportunity for OSM to develop a connection between strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption to take actions that advance societal goals:
“We were already doing a lot of Corporate Social Responsibility activities, but joining the UN Global Compact initiative has enabled us to gather these activities under one umbrella and ensure a higher level of dedication to our impact in society with a more focused strategic direction,” says Dimitris.
“We believe in our vision, we want to be a home to our people and an asset in society. Joining the UN Global Compact initiative shows our commitment to this and the importance we put into doing business in a sustainable way” said Managing Director OSM Crew Management, Tommy Olofsen relating to our first announcement on the membership in 2017.
