OSM Foundation Center for Learning, for mountain communities

The OSM-AD Foundation is a non-profit organization that operates to help uplift indigent communities in the Philippines.

The latest Foundation’s initiative was the installation of a 60-inch touchscreen LED TV in a classroom that was dedicated by both the Banaue National High School and OSM Foundation to become an audio-visual room or the so-called “OSM Foundation Center for Learning”. The goal is to offer an interactive learning facility for more than 400 high school students studying in the least assisted school in Banaue, Province of Ifugao in the Philippines.

OSM’s partnership with Banaue National High School was initiated in 2018 when OSM Foundation selected 5 community scholars, of which 4 of them have already graduated while the other one is almost graduating as well. The town’s public high school caters to the youth from the isolated villages in this mountainous region.

OSM volunteers made sure that the digital hardware would be more than effective. That’s why the team also facilitated two workshops, one for the teachers and the other one for the 20 selected student-leaders who represent their student organizations in the school.

The school’s principal strongly believes that the new interactive facility will help improve the proficiency rate and interest of the students to learn.

This is the second Center for Learning completed by OSM. The first one was delivered on August 2022 at an isolated school in Silvino Lubos Town, Province of Northern Samar.
