We are pleased to announce that our very own Dr Margarita Huerte, Medical Director of Operations of Nordic Medical Clinic (NMC), was elected as a member of the new Board of Directors of the International Maritime Health Association (IMHA). The organization held its face-to-face Election of the Board of Directors after three years during its General Assembly last September 24, 2022, in Antwerp, Belgium.
IMHA is a medical association for the maritime industry, celebrating 25 years. It was founded on June 17, 1997, during the 4th International Symposium on Maritime Health (ISMH) in Oslo, Norway. It aims to improve maritime health practices worldwide by developing health standards by conducting research and collaborating with international maritime authorities, maritime unions, and other relevant organizations.
Dr Margarita Huerte is a certified Maritime Physician from various authorities such as the Norwegian Maritime Authority / Royal Norwegian Embassy and Oil & Energy UK. She also holds a master’s degree in Hospital Administration. She finished her studies at the University of the Philippines. Well-versed with the various flag, P&I club, and customer requirements, she ensures that NMC operations are in the utmost healthcare standards.
With NMC’s involvement in IMHA, this is a big opportunity to create a positive change and influence the maritime industry by promoting the Holistic Maritime Healthcare approach that NMC has been practising.
