We are proud to announce that the Mount Norefjell was delivered to Himalaya Shipping and sailed out from the NTS shipyard in Jiangsu, China on the 4th of March.
The delivery of Mount Norefjell marks a special occasion for OSM, and we are extremely grateful for the support and trust from owners in awarding OSM the management of this vessel and an additional five sister vessels to come later in 2023 and 2024. The next vessel ‘Mount Ita’ is due to be delivered to OSM already next week on the 10th of March.
The vessels are pioneering ECO hull-designed, Dual Fuel LNG-powered Newcastlemax-sized bulk carriers with a deadweight of 208.000 MT. The two LNG tanks are providing sufficient capacity for a full round trip from China to South America. In addition to LNG, the vessels are fitted with a scrubber and Tier III-SCR systems as well as being Ammonia-ready, thereby enabling full flexibility and compliance with all relevant and future environmental legislations. The innovative design also includes a shaft generator which ensures lower fuel consumption while sailing.
The entire construction phase took only 12 months from the initial steel cutting in March 2022 until completion in March 2023!
We congratulate the owners on this remarkable achievement and wish smooth sailing for Mount Norefjell and her crew, headed by Capt. Cvijeto Duka and CE Veljko Luketin.
Her first voyage from NTS will be towards Singapore and then loading in Port Hedland, Australia.
