OSM Participated for another year in the Cyprus Shipping Chamber Charity beach volley tournament which took place at Cyprus Volleyball Federation beach volley courts in Limassol, on the 4th and 11th of September.
The mission was tough… Although OSM was drawn into the most difficult group, the good news is that we managed to win two games after several years in the competition, however, the bad news is that we did not qualify for the next round.
OSM’s team was one of the 21 teams which participated in the tournament. Each team participating contributed a symbolic amount of €550 per team (around $550), revenues that will be forwarded to the “One Dream – One Wish” Association, the Cypriot association for children battling cancer and related diseases.
During the event, the participants were all exclusive members of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber.
“What a joy to do sports, have fun, and help people at the same time… The team showed strength and character and managed to win two of its five matches. However, we didn’t qualify for the next round which is of no importance as the aim was to contribute with our participation to the battle these children are giving every day. We truly admire these kids’ strength and resilience, they are real heroes”, was the statement of the team’s leader, Xenia Trimbakirou.
Our team’s participants were: Dimitris Pavlou, Giorgos Demetriou, Giorgos Nikolaou, Ioanna Panayiotou, Neophytos Mavrommatis, Pambis Nikolaou, Stefanos Malikkidis, Synnove Henriksen, Xenia Trimbakirou, and Aristos Savva.
Conclusively, the “senior” member of the team, Dimitris Pavlou added,” the team is getting stronger year by year as we are having hard practises during the summer period and we are confident that next year we will qualify for the next round”!
